Course details
|
The course is aimed at retailers who would like to be able to respond to their customers with advice that is authoritive and relevant. The trend in selling towards "Consultative Selling" requires that those selling shoes have a command of their subject, and that they can offer advice ina way that is persuasive and to the point. Speakers from within and outside the industry will explain the technique and provide the necessary information. An additional focus will be on the area of children's fitting. This is being done partly because it can be seen as a special case, and partly because it highlights fitting in its' purest form. The concepts can be generalised to adult fitting. The traditional division in retailing - between convenience and comparison goods - is more pronounced than ever before, and customers' expectations have changed. In all areas of "comparison buying" they look for informed advice. "These are nice" must be replaced with "This would be a good shoe for you because ..." An academic and a practising podiatrist will discuss issues of foot health and advances in treatment. This will include considerations for fitting shoes to work with orthotic devices. They will also indicate that it is appropriate for you to suggest your customer seek professional advice. Professionals from within the shoe industry will explain the way shoes are constructed, the reasons for choosing different materials and the relationship between structure and function. When these are considered, together with high standards of fitting, the techniques of "consultative selling" can be applied, and customers will value the fact that their choice has been an informed one. |
